OUR XC COMPETITION HARNESS, NOW UPGRADED
The Genie Race 5 was developed in the GIN LAB wind tunnel and offers not just the highest levels of performance, but also comfort and ergonomics.
Several improvements were made to the inflatable outer skin in 2025, which is available separately in order to be retrofitted to the original version of the harness.

Performance guaranteed
Wind tunnel testing by Gin Gliders in collaboration with Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology in South Korea was used to inform the development process and confirm the results of in-flight testing. The Genie Race 5 is built to succeed at the highest levels.
Upgraded inflatable skin
In response to pilot demand, the inflatable skin has been upgraded with several new features:

Updated aerocone
The aerocone has been slightly extended in height to give a closer alignment with the top of the pilot’s head.
Magnetic closing system
The cord-operated zipper has now been replaced by a magnetic system, which is simply opened and closed in the same manner as a classic cocoon. It’s never been easier to get in and out of a fully inflatable race harness.
Body upgrades
Besides the skin upgrade, the body has also been updated from 2025. There is a more robust fabric enclosing the footplate and an upgraded 40mm Ronstan ratchet pulley with easy attach system on the speed line.
G-chute pocket
There is a new pocket on the left side of the chest with an attachment for use with a drag parachute.
Cockpit plate pocket
A secondary cockpit pocket can be fitted underneath the main panel. This contains a hook knife, zipped compartment and extra storage for a battery pack etc. Zipper postion has been updated in order to be able to extract items during flight.
New nose section
The nose section is now shaped with foam and re-enforced with more durable fabric, in order to minimise damage when the harness comes into contact with the ground, for example when moving around on take-off.
New speed bar
An upgraded version of our asymmetric speed bar now features more durable materials and a wider third step for enhanced comfort at full speed.
Upgradable
Besides being standard on the current version of the harness, the new skin can be purchased separately and fitted to the original Genie Race 5.
Easy to set up and to use
The Genie Race 5 doesn’t require complex trim adjustments in order to maintain inflation. It does still offer the ability to adjust the geometry according pilot taste.
Stays inflated at all speeds
Fluttering of the harness is also a loss of performance, and the Genie Race 5 doesn’t flap or flutter, even at trim speed. The plastic reinforcements and uniquely durable yet light fabric allow for a more simplified and streamlined profile.
Keep your cool
The fabric of the Genie Race 5 is also resistant to heat and also has a degree of breathability, which helps to prevent pilot overheating even when fully enclosed.
Your instruments where you need them
The cockpit of the Genie Race 5 is easy to install and still allows the pilot to see and operate their instruments in flight.
Well-proven geometry
The geometry of the Genie Race 5 is an evolution from the Genie Race 4, well- proven in terms of stability and feedback, both in climbs and on glide.
9cm koroyd back protector
The 9cm Koroyd protector is thicker than the minimum required to obtain certification, offering excellent protection for this category of harness whilst contributing to the structure of the harness and the maintenance of a low profile.
Wind tunnel tested
The Genie Race 5 is a product of the “GIN LAB”, a wind tunnel project run by Gin Gliders in collaboration with Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology in South Korea. The final profile chosen for the Genie Race 5 is the result of in depth investigations of various parameters and comparative testing.
